Sonia Caceres is a Colombian Violinist with more than 7 years of teaching experience. She completed her Bachelor Degree in Music with Honours in 2017 under the supervision of Ukrainian Professor Irina Litvin. During her career she was part of the UNAB Symphony Orchestra as a violinist and the UIS Symphony Orchestra as a concert master.
Sonia comes from a musical family and was involved with traditional Colombian music at a young age, being part of the musical group Corazon Santandereano. At age 11 she began violin lessons with professor Johanna Garcia who introduced her to the string festivals in the city of Bucaramanga. She has had the opportunity to play in famous scenarios in Colombia such as the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan theatre, Jesus Alberto Rey auditorium, and Luis A. Calvo auditorium.
In 2018 Sonia began her studies at the University of Ottawa in music performance with Professor Michael Van der Sloot.
Sonia is passionate about music and feels the best way to share her knowledge and experience is through the learning process. Music has given Sonia the opportunity to travel the world, share her culture, learn from others and become an inspirational teacher.
