Ramita Arora is a singer/songwriter from Ontario, Canada. Her influences include indie, acoustic pop, alternative rock, classical and film score. Ramita teaches voice, guitar accompaniment, and beginner piano.
She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studied songwriting and minored in music production in engineering. Ramita completed her Grade Eight in Voice and Advanced Rudiments in Theory from The Royal Conservatory of Music.
In 2013, Ramita wrote, produced, recorded and engineered her debut EP, Escape. In 2015, she wrote, co-produced, recorded and released her second EP, Handwritten, along with the release several self-produced music videos. Ramita has also gained experience as a solo performer and teaches private music lessons to students in a variety of genres.
Ramita has been playing piano since eight years old and began voice lessons at twelve. She was accepted into Canterbury high school’s prestigious voice program a year later. She sang in Canterbury’s Chamber Choir, which won first place in CBC’s National Choral Competition in 2010. During her time with Canterbury Chamber Choir, she performed at many venues around Ottawa, including the National Arts Centre, Parliament Hill, Shenkman Arts Centre and Dominion Chalmers United Church. It was also around this time she began writing songs and playing acoustic guitar.
