Do you play an acoustic instrument? Would you enjoy learning and playing music with other people in a relaxed and friendly setting? Alcorn Music Studio’s FOLK Orchestra (Friendly Open Laid-back Kinship) is an instrumental group that plays traditional folk music from Canada and around the world. The group creates arrangements of tunes together and performs at least once per term.

The FORK Orchestra welcomes players of acoustic instruments, including but not limited to: guitars, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, bouzouki, fiddles, accordions, concertinas, harmonicas, melodicas, recorders, flutes, whistles, clarinets, bodhrans, and cellos.

There are no auditions, but no absolute beginners, please. You don’t need to read music, but a basic knowledge of the fingerings on your instrument is useful. We’ll play a variety of folk music which will all be taught by ear, but sheet music will also be provided.

The group is led by multi-instrumentalist and award-winning composer Elise Letourneau, whose music experience spans over 4 decades.
