We teach children, students & adults!

 

Alcorn Music Studios strives to develop programs that will encourage musicians of all ages to experience the joy of music.
 

We have a vibrant team of experienced, university educated, professional musicians who firmly believe music is for everyone!  We provide a supportive encouraging atmosphere for all of our music students.
 

Our instructors will incorporate the style of music you want to learn into your lesson program in conjunction with helping you to develop a strong foundation in the fundamentals of music.

 

We enhance our students experience by providing live performance opportunities on stage at Tucson’s twice a year and for our adult students we offer a "coffee house" performance opportunity twice a year at Tucson’s

Beginning Fall 2010 we are adding Saturdays


We encourage the Ottawa community to participate in our workshops, courses, Inside the Music lecture/concert series and the Capital Vox Jazz Choir.

 

Alcorn Music Studios is owned and operated by Mark Alcorn and Marilee Townsend-Alcorn, both professional musicians and music educators.

 

Mark majored in music at York University in Toronto and with the Jazz Studies program at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. He has performed jazz, pop, R&B, blues, gospel, rock and in theatre pit bands. Mark has a comprehensive knowledge of jazz and classical theory. Mark performs on electric and acoustic guitar, baritone guitar, electric bass and upright electric bas. He performs in the local blues/R&B band Alcorn David Band  the Alcorn Bedner Townsend Trio, and the Elise Letourneau quartet as well as performing freelance on all instruments.

 

Marilee holds a Bachelor of Music degree and a Diploma in Jazz Studies from St. Francis Xavier University. She specialized in percussion and drumset and minored in piano. Marilee continues to study drumset with Jim Blackley. She has performed in jazz, R&B, blues, gospel, theater pit bands, dixie, country groups, percussion ensembles and symphonic bands.  Marilee currently performs regularly with Alcorn David Band the Alcorn Bedner Townsend Trio and .Elise Letourneau quartet as well as freelance.

 

Mark and Marilee have extensive experience teaching and coaching music students and musicians both privately and in group settings.
