Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet - Jason Scott is a seasoned performer who has toured Canada, USA, and Cuba. Jason has performed and recorded all styles of music including pop, rock, classical, jazz, blues, gospel, R&B, hip hop, techno, fusion, folk, country, salsa, funk and more.
He studied music at Conservatoire de Musique, Vanier College and Heritage College. Jason is an accomplished player on saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor & baritone), flute, clarinet and keyboard.
Jason has been teaching and tutoring instrumental and music theory for over 15 years. He has developed a creative approach that encourages instrumentalists and vocalists to improve their technique and develop reading ability while learning how to improvise and later, compose music.
Jason's lessons are structured to include music fundamentals and technique skills, while learning to play various styles of music. Once the students have accomplished the basics Jason adds in improvisation techniques and soloing skills.
Jason's performance skills come into play when students are ready to perform in groups. He teaches them how to blend their sound, how to improvise lines and understand song structure.
In addition to private lessons Jason also does "in school" work for concert bands and jazz ensembles. Jason coaches jazz ensembles through improvisation clinics as well as "sax" sectionals. Jason coaches concert band woodwind sectionals.
