Vocal Instructor - Elise Letourneau sings and plays the piano, flute, bass flute, and melodica. She has an active performance schedule and has performed throughout the mid-Atlantic region of the United States and throughout Ontario. She has been teaching privately since 1983.
Elise received her Bachelor of Music degree (Contemporary Composition & Arranging) from Berklee College of Music in Boston MA, and her Master of Education Degree (Creative Arts & Learning) from Lesley College in Cambridge MA. Her teachers include Anne Peckham, Janet Lawson, Bob Stoloff, Jerry Tolson, and Roland Wyatt (vocal coach to the Manhattan Transfer).
Elise teaches vocal technique and musicianship to singers who wish to sing in contemporary styles including jazz, pop, blues, folk, rock, and Broadway. She can also help interested students prepare for auditions and RCM exams.
Elise was selected for inclusion on the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour artist roster. She has taught classes and presented workshops at Duquesne University, Carnegie-Mellon University, the Community College of Allegheny County, The Pittsburgh Eye & Ear Institute, and for the Pennsylvania Music Teachers' Association.
Her recordings include a CD of jazz standards and poetry called "Pas de Deux" with pianist Harry Pickens, and a CD of original songs entitled "I Will Sing for You", both on the Peace Cafe Records label.
Elise is the co-author of The Stage Fright Handbook: A Musician's Guide to Surviving Performance Anxiety and Overcoming Nervousness. Her articles about singing and songwriting have appeared online and in print, and her music has received airplay in Pennsylvania and Canada.
In addition to songwriting, Elise composes and arranges choral and piano works, pieces for flute choir, and her commissions include music for dance productions, commercials, and cable TV. She has worked as a staff vocalist, recording commercials for a jingle production company.
Elise is the founder and director of Grace Notes, a service organization that brings one-on-one music performances to the terminally ill and dying, concerts to under-funded public schools, and brings music to groups of people who cannot attend concerts without physical difficulty.
Currently, her creative work includes composing for an album of solo voice works, as well as choral works incorporating the poetry of Emily Dickinson.
Elise is the founder, director and music arranger/composer for Capital Vox, Ottawa's Jazz Choir. Elise was also the music director for Big Soul Project, a community gospel and groove choir.

An 8-week "funshop" exploring listening, improvisation,
spontaneity, creativity, and selected compositional devices - using the
voice as a paintbrush and establishing the canvas as we go. Singers' Bootcamp Circuit Training for Singers Class is organized into 10 - 15 minute segments focusing on breath, technique, diction, music reading, time & rhythm, understanding keys, and ear training.
