Vocal Instructor Allison Jackson

Allison teaches voice, piano and theory. Allison is delighted to teach students of all ages in her cheerful studio space. Allison creates a welcoming atmosphere full of music and inspiration for her students. 

 

Voice studies with Allison start with a groundwork of proper vocal technique and breath control to ensure a safe and long lasting voice.  Allison teaches and sings pop, classical, folk and other styles and will readily embrace the music you are most interested in.. 

 

Piano students can choose to follow a variety of methods and musical styles. Allison will plan a lesson curriculum around your musical tastes and goals.  Allison also prepares students for RCM and Canadian Conservatory exams.

 

Canadian Soprano, Allison Jackson, has completed a Master of Music performance degree from the University of Ottawa where she studied under Ingemar Korjus and Sandra Graham. She has performed in numerous recitals and events around the Maritimes, notably at the Indian River Festival, the PEI Governor General’s House and the Scotia Festival of Music. Recently, Allison has performed in the Foliage Art Song Festival in Vermont, USA, and has participated in masterclasses with Donna Brown, Lorraine Nubar, Monica Zerbe, and Patricia Rozario. With the University of Ottawa Opera Company she has portrayed the roles of Marcellina in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Mrs. Nolan in Menotti's The Medium, and she was the winner of the National Capital Region NATS competition for the graduate level and young professional class in 2010. In March 2010, Allison was the soprano soloist for Mendelssohn's Lobgesang with the University of Ottawa orchestra, under the direction of Rennie Regehr, and the University of Ottawa choirs, directed by Laurence Ewashko. Along with solo singing she is also a member of the Opera Lyra Ottawa chorus having performed with the company in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Mozart's Magic Flute, Puccini's Turandot, and most recently Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor.  Allison has her Grade 10 RCM in piano.

 She can be heard as the soprano soloist and section leader at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Kent St.
