ABOUT TIM BEDNER

Tim Bedner received his undergraduate training at Berklee College of Music and a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance at Duquesne University, considered one of the top 10 universities in the United States. Tim taught and developed undergraduate and graduate level guitar curricula for Duquesne while on their faculty.

 

For over 20 years, Tim has coached and prepared students for study at university music programs such as Boston's Berklee College of Music, NYC's New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music, Philadelphia's School of the Arts, and Pittsburgh's Duquesne University.

 

Tim has relocated to the Ottawa area and teaches private lessons, clinics, and workshops. Tim can be seen performing in Ottawa at Vineyards, Café Paradiso and the Roses Café.

 

Honours and Awards

 

• Multiple-year honoree in Who’s Who Among American Teachers, 2002 & 2005. • Nominated student marshal for May 2000 graduation ceremonies of the Mary Pappert School of Music, Duquesne University.

• Full-tuition graduate assistantship, Duquesne University School of Music, August 1998 to May 2000.

• Berklee Achievement Scholarship, academic excellence, Berklee College of Music, 1991.

• Achieved Dean's List academic standing every semester at Berklee College of Music. Graduated Summa Cum Laude.

• Professional Performance Division Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding musicianship, Berklee College of Music, 1991.

 

 

Music Workshop Series with Tim Bedner

 

All musical styles welcome! Bring your own instrument and learn in an informal and relaxed setting. We have limited enrolment so register early.

 

Who are the Workshops for?

- the first workshop geared for guitarists, workshop 2 through 5 are geared for all instrumentalists, music teachers and guitarists.

- for people who are interested in contemporary musical genres i.e. rock, blues, jazz, folk.

- musicians should understand major scale and triadic construction, the 12 key system and knowledge of their instrument. i.e.; they know what notes they are playing at a slow pace.

What are the Workshops all about?

- geared to help expand understanding of components of the music language i.e.; harmony, rhythm, improv.

- plus practical considerations such as practicing and structure for independent study

- interconnected workshops- can be taken individually, but most helpful as a series.

Guitarists can register for the 5 session series or individually:

5 session cost prepaid in advance: $175

Individual workshop price $40

 

Instrumentalists & Vocalists can register for the 4 session series or individually:

4 session cost prepaid in advance: $140
