Guest Artists:
"Thank you again – these workshops are a gift!"
"Just wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed both last night's (Roddy Elias) and the previous Inside the Music with B.Coon. Of course I realize that they are primarily for guitar players, but they have been really interesting for a music lover as well. I've found that they have helped me better understand what I'm listening to, as well as giving me a sort of heads up as to why I like certain things in a piece. I really like the format with the mix of interview ( and by the way, Tim is very good at this and really is a big part of the presentation ) Q & A, performance and story telling. I wish more people who just love music would attend; there's so much to get out of the evening. I hope that you guys will continue to present them with musicians who make even the uninitiated appreciate more about the music."

In combination with the lecture our guest artist will either provide a workshop, a demonstration or a concert. Tim Bedner will often participate providing accompaniment or forming the second half of a duo.
Inside the Music is held in the quiet intimate space of Alcorn Music Studios. The audience is limited to 30 people in order to maintain the sense of being a part of the experience.

To Alcorn Music Studios from Janet Lawson "There’s a jazz nest up in Ottawa, filled with heartedged music that nourishes the souls of music lovers of all ages. Mark Alcorn, bassist extraordinaire, and Marilee Townsend-Alcorn, drummer like no other, built this haven with lots of support - especially from sensitive and swinging guitarist, Tim Bedner and the massive offerings of vocal jazz, piano, flute, composition, arranging and conducting of Elise Letourneau. All of these musical gems (and others of their AMS family) perform and teach at such a high level of musical and human understanding, it’s no wonder musicians from all over the world come to Ottawa to nourish their connecting-deeply-chops. I can attest to that in my recent sharing as guest soloist with Ottawa’s Jazz Choir, Capital Vox founded and conducted by Elise Letourneau and the Vocal Improv Workshop I gave with these inspiring musicians as part of the Inside the Music Lecture/Concert Series hosted by Tim Bedner. What is evident by the audiences, participants, professional musicians and students the AMS attracts is that the important ingredient in all they make available to others is their truly, caring natures. This is not a business to them. This is a way of life – developing their self expression and creating a hearth for others to do the same. Thank you all in the Alcorn Music Studio family for filling me up and sending me home, with a grateful smile and a lot of music in my heart." Janet Lawson
